120 Years of Bollywood Glam | Blue Rose Artistry x Tannu Gill

It is no secret that Sohal Grewal of Blue Rose Artistry is one of the most talented make-up artists in Canada. With over 100,000 followers on Instagram, you may have noticed her outstanding bridal makeup pictures that have been circulating on the internet. Her fan base continues to grow as she has collaborated with the likes of Dress Your Face and many other key figures in the make-up industry. Sohal has shown great dedication to her work and pays immaculate attention to details. She takes the time out to ensure that she delivers above and beyond the expectations of her bride’s vision. This Vancouver based make up artist transformed the lovely Tannu Gill in her recent video called the 120 years of Bollywood Bridal on YouTube, edited by Raveena. The 120 years of Bollywood Bridal video showcases the various changes to Bollywood glam throughout the different eras. Market Clothing Inc. and Hookum Design Studio collaborated with Sohal and encouraged her vision by incorporating statement jewellery pieces and outfits.

Throughout the video, Sohal carefully chose stars that held some level of historical significance and made a difference in social views. For example, the video begins with year 1910, a look inspired by Durgabai and Kamlabai Kamat in Mohini Bhasmasur. Mother-daughter duo overcame barriers and societal pressures and were the first females to ever be casted in a Bollywood movie. This was a huge change for Bollywood and a stepping stone for females who wanted to enter the film industry. This look was simplistic but captured the gorgeous features of Tannu. The video includes many strong, leading female actresses and their looks. The level of simplicity altered throughout the eras. And in the final look, you could definitely notice the change. This look was a little more dramatic in comparison to the past eras and it showcased the technique and skills required to execute the modern Blue Rose Artistry Bride. In all honesty, it was a fantastic ending to the video. It surprised viewers as we assumed that the finishing look would be of an actress. It tied in well with the theme of the video. This video has captured every element of the different eras of Bollywood.
